1. Submissions

The submitted papers must be original and unpublished. We do not accept simultaneous submissions.

Papers must be written in perfect academic English (either British or American).

2. Review process

After checks for plagiarism and an initial assessment by the journal editors, articles considered for publication undergo a double-blind peer review. Final responsibility for editorial decisions rests with the journal's Editor-in-Chief.

Papers are acknowledged upon receipt. We strive to make an editorial decision within three months, but circumstances beyond our control occasionally dictate a longer cycle. Each paper is reviewed by at least two reviewers and is also read by one of the Editors and Associates. Results of our decision, along with copies of the reviews, will be forwarded to authors as quickly as possible.

Under the double-blind review process, both the reviewer's name and the author's name will not be revealed at any time during the process. To facilitate blind review, please include in the submission the following documents in Word format separately:

• Title page with information about the authors. This document must contain the title of the article, which will be concise and informative; the names and affiliations of the authors and, if possible, the email address; and the full address of the corresponding author including the email address. Please clearly indicate the corresponding author, who will be sent any information regarding the pre-publication, publication and post-publication process of the article.

• Blinded manuscript without the information of the authors. This document should include the content of the paper, including references, figures, tables and acknowledgments. The figures and tables should be incorporated at the end of the document duly numbered.

Likewise, in this document, it must be accompanied by a abstract with a maximum length of 250 words and between 4-6 key words at the beginning of it.

3. Format and extension

• JBAFP requires that all submissions be sent through the electronic platform in Microsoft Word format.

• Include full date (month/day/year) of submission in the center of the cover page.

• To facilitate the blind review process, be sure that the title page is on a page by itself and no information identifying the author(s) appears after the title page.

• Manuscripts should not exceed 7,000 words for regular articles, including figures, tables, footnotes (which must be incorporated in the text and numbered consecutively) and references. The limit for books reviews will be 1,500 words. Occasionally, a longer manuscript will be accepted for review.

• The articles should be doublespaced in 12-point Times New Roman font.

• Place page numbers in the upper right side of each page; do not place a page number on the cover page.

• The article must be logically structured with appropriate headings. The main titles will be used to differentiate the sections of the article. The subsections should have a brief title to differentiate them. They do not have to be numbered. They are different from the sections since they will be in italics and the sections in bold.

• The title of the article should not exceed 10 words.

• Tables and figures should be included at the end of the document (after references) on a separate sheet and duly numbered.Number tables and figures consecutively using Arabic numerals (one series for tables, one for figures) from the beginning to the end of the article. Each table / figure must have a title and the source (if applicable).

Do not use shading in tables and figures. Do not use coloring in tables and figures or in-text pages.

• Footnotes or endnotes should be avoided unless absolutely necessary. When necessary they should appear at the end of an article in a separate page, just after conclusions and just before the references. Acknowledgments should appear as the first endnote.

• References should be on a separate sheet and sorted alphabetically at the end of the paper. Please make sure that all references are cited in the text and vice versa. References should follow the Chicago References StylE. 

Quick Reference Formatting Guide

• Journal Article Citations of journals include the volume and year of publication. The volume number follows the italicized journal title in roman and with no intervening punctuation. A specific page reference is included in the text; the page range for an article is included in the reference list, preceded by a colon.

For citations of journals consulted online, Chicago recommends the inclusion of a DOI or a URL. Note that DOI, is lowercased and followed by a colon (with no space after) in source citations.

• Book with Multiple Authors

For a book with two authors, only the first-listed name is inverted in the reference list.

For a book with three or more authors, include all the authors in the reference list entry. Word order and punctuation are the same as for two or three authors. In the text, however, cite only the last name of the first-listed author, followed by et al.

• Appendices. Present lengthy but essential methodological details, such as explanations of the calculation of measures, in an appendix or appendices. Presentation should be concise but not abbreviated. Entitle a single appendix Appendix, typed in upper and lower case bold; multiple appendices are Appendix A, Appendix B…

4. Publishing conditions

JBAFP is published by MDPI through the JAMS platform as an Open Access journal, meaning that users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author. All articles in the journal are published under a Creative Commons Attribution license (CC BY-4.0), which permits unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction in any medium, provided the original work is properly cited. Authors retain the copyright and full publishing rights. There are currently neither Article Processing Charges nor other fees to the author(s).

MDPI provides perpetual access for all JBAFP content by working with the digital preservation scheme Portico.
